The Five Roots of Suffering (4) Identifying with “The Imaginary”



The fourth root of suffering is identifying with the imaginary stuff- we call it The Imaginary.


As humans, we all have negative self-talks. It is the defect of all human brains. We do not believe in the traditional psychology or psychiatry, which tells some people have mental illness and are insane, whilst others are healthy and sane. It is untrue. The line between “sane” and “insane” is blurred.


We are all mentally ill and insane, to some degree. We as humans all have the same defect in our brain. We have this negative voice in our head telling us we are no good. It keeps telling us how bad we are or how badly we did, it tells us all the time, 24/7/365 non-stop, as if it is true.


Many people say, it is my personality, I am not confident, I am not as good as others, I am a negative and pessimistic person, I am blah blah blah.


The shocking truth is we all have it. At Overcome we do not believe in those over-complicated concepts, experiments and analysis on the terminology “Ego”.


In his theory of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud suggested that human personality was made up of three key elements. He called these the id, the ego, and the superego. According to Freud, it is the interaction of these three parts of the personality that influence how people think and behave. The id is what drives our needs and desires, and the superego strives for morality and perfection. The ego is the mediator between the two that tries to fulfill the needs of the id and the superego while accounting for the demands of reality.


These are a pile of bxxxsxxt. Let us tell you in a simple way, what Ego really is.


We as humans all have a defect in our brain. It constantly criticise and ridicule us. It is the false self. It is the internal critic. It is the Ego! So Ego is simply the Fiction Self, the False Self that is constantly beat ourselves up!


Is there mental illness? Yes, only if these negative self-talks are overwhelming and you believe it so much and you enter a status of not able to tell it from yourself.


If you believe in traditional psychology and psychiatry, you’d be put on years and years of therapies and medication, only ended in being failed again and again. You ended up in mental hospital, broke, breaking up and divorce. They try to cure your depression, your anxiety, and your stress disorders, but they only in fact maintained your problems, and you ended up nowhere. In the meantime, those doctors or therapists are getting rich by exploiting you. Don’t get us wrong, it is a systematic issue, it is an institutional problem, not the fault of individual doctors or psychologists. It is the System.


It is not Okay. It is your life, and you must break through the lies and break this curse.


We said that the fourth root of suffering is identifying with The Imaginary, i.e. the Ego. It is a defect in human brain, not found in animals.


Your Ego is lying to you. It is evil. No, you are not bad. Bad people do not seek therapies and do not want to get better. There's a good kind loving and kind person, in that hard shell, that's you.But you know, you have to find the right therapies to help you, otherwise, you are heading towards the wrong direction, to disasters.
