Self-defeating Mindset (9) "Labelling"

(9) "Labelling"

"Labelling" is an extreme form of attaching a negative image to yourself. When you make a small mistake, you label yourself negatively: "I'm a failure." "I'm an idiot."

Labelling is very unreasonable because it is not equal to what you did.

Labelling yourself is a useless abstraction that leads to anger and frustration, and then you get anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem.

You can also tag other people. When someone does something that offends you, you say, that person is stupid, and then you feel that the problem is that person's "character" or "essence," not their thoughts or actions.

You see them as hostile to you, you feel that there is no hope of improving things or the relationship, and there is little room for constructive communication.

What we need to do is stop labelling ourselves or others, and focus on behaviour, because behaviour can be changed. We can positively direct our behaviour.

A "self-defeating" mindset is a defect in human brains. We must recognise them and get rid of them immediately. Your life will be different and you will succeed more easily than others.

Master this technique, and you'll love yourself better, exercise self-control more easily, and achieve more of your goals.
